The Ministry of Health and Child Care in collaboration with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education embarked on a Mass Drug Campaign against Neglected tropical diseases at Nyamandlovu in Bulawayo. The Mass Drug Administration is targeting four preventive chemotherapy neglected Tropical Diseases prevalent in Zimbabwe namely Schistosomiasis or Bilhazia, Soil Transmitted Helminthes or intestinal worm diseases, Lymphatic Filariasis also known as Elephantiasis or Hydrocele and Blinding Trachoma.
The Zimbabwe Diabetic Association has embarked on a nationwide educational drive aimed at building awareness and empowering those affected by the disease. Diabetes is among some of the non-communicable diseases that include heart and high blood pressure that are affecting Zimbabweans in larger proportions.
Due to the exorbitant cost of blood in the country, the Minister of Health and Child Care Dr David Parirenyatwa issued the following statement:The high cost of blood and blood products in Zimbabwe has, for a long time now, been a matter of concern for both government and patients.
Bogus practitioners who claim to have solutions to deal with conditions such as erectile dysfunction, male organ enlargements and marital problems have sprouted up in Zimbabwe judging by the number of advertisements that are flighted in our media space.
