Village health Posts / Clinics on cards

Village health Posts / Clinics on cards

The Ministry of Health and Child Care in partnership with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is currently rolling out Health Posts in rural areas as part of Government to boost access to primary health care services in rural areas.

The rolling out of village health posts / centers in villages will play a critical role in reducing deaths from minor and curable illnesses.

People were travelling long distances to get medical services, a situation which saw some of the villagers failing to make it alive.

The health post facilities are expected to alleviate challenges bedeviling the village community where patients are travelling long distances to acquire medical services.

Sad tales of how people who lost lives while others suffered miscarriages on their way to far hospitals are chronicled almost every day.

A random survey carried out by the Ministry of health and Child Care indicated that village community travels about 45 kilometers to hospitals to acquire medical attention, but the rolling out of the health posts/ centers clinic is a positive development.

Chief Engineer / Director Hospital Planning and Projects Management in the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Engineer Clive Marimo said Health Posts/ Centers have come at a time access to basic healthcare service was awful in some areas owing to issues ranging to inaccessibility of the area by health care providers among a plethora of other factors.

“The Health posts/ health clinics is an initiative to address primary health care.

“It is meant to help people within a village context and the clinics will serve thousands of people in communities.

“Some people have been isolated from health facilities because of their Geographical location, so we say the rolling out of health posts is a welcome move.

Meanwhile, the health posts / clinics will reduce unnecessary deaths.
