The Ministry of Health and Child Care has received three brand new ambulances from Redan Coupon Company to be distributed to Marondera, Gwanda and Masvingo Provincial Hospitals in order to sustain a good health delivery system in Zimbabwe.
In his acceptance speech, Honourable Vice President and Minister of Health and Child Care General (Rtd) Dr C.D.G.N Chiwenga expressed gratitude indicating that the donation has come at a good time when the Ministry is at its infant stages in formulating an ambulance service directorate thus speaking to the restructuring framework.
“The restructured Ministry of Health and Child Care will be comprised of among other entities a directorate of ambulance services comprising ground and air ambulance department.
“The donation comes at a crucial time when the Ministry is formulating an ambulance service directorate. The department will require 200 fully equipped ambulances,” said Dr Chiwenga.
In his speech Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Redan Coupon Company, Mr Tafadzwa Chigumbu at a local hotel where the event was held, he indicated that the success of their company and as a nation is based on the good health delivery service which is offered by the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
“Our success as a company and as a nation depends on a good health delivery system. And in this light Redan is gratified in knowing that its contribution will result in the Ministry of Health being able to serve the public at large,” said Chiugumbu.
In addition, Chigumbu expressed his gratitude towards the health facilities at large for continued dedication and services they offer to those in need even under strenuous situations.
Upon delivery of the ambulances, all 3 vehicles were loaded with 1,000 litres worth of Direct Fuel Import (DFI) fuel.
