President Emmerson Mnangagwa, yesterday at State House, announced that the country was now moving from level 4 lockdown to level 2.
“I am, therefore, introducing a relaxation of the current level four (4) lockdown to level two (2) lockdown,” said President Mnangagwa.
The newly introduced level 2 lockdown is characterised by expanded business hours and an increased number of people per each public gathering however adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures will continue to be observed.
“The relaxation includes, a curfew beginning at 2200 hours and ending at 0530 hours; ordinary business enterprise to operate between 0800 hours and 1900 hours.
“Public gatherings are to be limited to no more than one hundred (100) people with observance of public health measures of wearing masks, sanitising, social distancing and temperature checks and people are encouraged to be vaccinated,” said the Head of State.
Turning to the issue of sports, President Mnangagwa said low-risk sports would take place between 8 in the morning and 4 pm, while those who want to engage in medium to high-risk sports need to have clearance first.
“Low-risk sporting activities shall operate from 0800 hours to 1600 hours while observing public health measures as previously prescribed in the lockdown measures. Medium to high-risk sporting activities shall obtain approval beforehand,” said President Mnangagwa.
