Sustained health literacy campaigns by community health workers (CHWs) and traditional leaders in Matabeleland South province has significantly improved health outcomes and enhanced health seeking behavior among communities in the province.
The Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) say there is need to increase access and awareness on the use of contraceptives in Matabeleland South Province which has the country’s highest number of non-users of contraceptives.
Government through the Health Services Board is putting in place measures to ensure local referral hospitals can perform complicated medical procedures such as open heart surgery and organ transplants.
